Why Use Ledger Live Desktop?

Visual Portfolio Management

Unlike exchange interfaces, Ledger Live gives you a clear, bird's-eye view of your entire wealth across multiple blockchains simultaneously, all while you keep your keys at Ledger.com/Start.

Web3 Integration

Connect to dApps, swap tokens via Paraswap or 1inch, and manage your Lido staking directly from the Desktop interface with hardware-level security.

Critical Note on Updates

Search engine users often ask: "Is it safe to update Ledger Live?" Yes. However, you should only ever download updates within the app or by revisiting Ledger.com/Start. Never trust pop-ups on external websites or links sent via email. Real updates will never ask for your 24-word recovery phrase.

Securing Your Account setup

During the initial setup at Ledger.com/Start, you will be asked to set a password for the Desktop app. This is an optional local security layer. Even if someone gains access to your computer, this password prevents them from seeing your balances. However, this password is not your 24-word recovery phrase. If you lose your computer password, you can simply reset the app—your crypto remains safe on the blockchain as long as you have your recovery phrase.

Anti-Phishing Alert

If any software asks you to type your 24 words into a keyboard, it is a scam. Your recovery phrase must ONLY be entered physically on the Ledger Nano device itself.
